The Star Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force. The Wii version will not only give you a solid story-line developed by LucasArts involving the Darth Vader's secret apprentice, but you'll experience a new style of gameplay only the Wii can offer. With the Wiimote and Nunchuck you'll be able to battle your way through your enemies utilizing your Lightsaber attacks and Force powers. Not only can you experience this new control system in story mode, but you can also try your Jedi skills against a friend in the Wii, "Battle Mode." Joining the Dark Side doesn't seem like such a bad idea after all.

Game Features:
  • During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
  • Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
  • Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible:
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
  • In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
  • Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
  • The Wii system's "Battle Mode," a one on one fighting arena simliar to the classic game, Star Wars: Masters of Teräs Käsi.
  • Use the Wiimote to slash and pierce your enemies with your Jedi Lightsaber while you use the Wii Nunchuk to disable other opponents with your Force Powers.
  • LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.

Meet the Cast
The Star Wars Saga will continue in 2008 with LucasArts' biggest-ever video game event. Set during the "dark times" between Episodes III and IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed portrays the previously untold story of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice -- and now you can put a face to that mysterious character as well as the major supporting cast members as LucasArts unveils the actors set to star in The Force Unleashed.

The Cast of The Force Unleashed

The Technology of The Force Unleashed
With The Force Unleashed, LucasArts not only introduces a new chapter in the Star Wars saga, but also pushes the Wii's game engine to deliver amazing detail and realism only found in a Star Wars title. You will experience gameplay and the Force like you never had before.

Product Description
The next chapter in the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, tells the story of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice, a mysterious figure trained by the menacing Sith Lord, to hunt down the last of the Jedi. Set in the dark times between Episodes III and IV, the story is both a continuation of the prequel trilogy -- exploring the aftermath of Order 66, which called for the immediate execution of all Jedi, and focusing on the continued rise of Darth Vader -- and a direct bridge to the Original Trilogy. The Force Unleashed will forever change the fate of the Galaxy and explain key plot points that directly lead into events in Star Wars: A New Hope. With The Force Unleashed , LucasArts not only introduces a new chapter in the Star Wars saga, but also two completely new and innovative technologies -- Digital Molecular Matter by Pixelux Entertainment and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. These groundbreaking technologies combine with Havoc physics to create true next-gen game play and the Force like it's never been seen or experienced before.

5 out of 5 stars Takes some time to get use to motion controller   September 1, 2010

Just finished reading the book, but I never really got into the game. Now that I know the story I will be playing it a lot more.

2 out of 5 stars Great novelty demo game fails to deliver   June 27, 2010

So I finally broke down and picked up this game. I love the Star Wars series and this seemed to have a lot of potential. It still does - but fails to deliver. Here's some of the elements that are notable.

Story Line: A couple of really good twists that I don't want to give away. However, other than those, it's pretty short. I ended the game, thinking "that's all? Really?" I even played back through the first level hoping for some crazy novelty to bring me back to it. But ... nothing. And I hated playing as a Sith with no moral choices to make. I kept expecting to wait for that one moment where I could choose the Jedi or Sith path ... nothing. I still had to mow down Wookies. No fun there.

Graphics / Sound: Perfectly adequate. The camera angle makes it a little awkward at times, but there's still fun to be had. I'll admit, there was fun in holding an enemy up in the air and launching my lightsaber through him. It's also a neat twist being able to interact with the environment so much. Every room has boxes, mechanical things, and even droids that you can use to pummel your adversaries.

Play: As with almost every Wii game, I feel shafted. I'm a lefty, but yet they keep forcing me to wield my sword / saber with my right hand. Bah - that's what you get for following the Empire. Er... sorry - I'm back. That set aside, the controls are very intuitive and easy to pick up. Using the Wiimote as a saber is a nice touch.

All that put together, makes for a nice demo. It really needed much more, but completely failed to deliver on some of the past games (though it should bear to remark, that it is not nearly as bad as some of its predecessors). I would recommend renting this just to have the play experience ... but don't waste your money.

5 out of 5 stars Best Star Wars Game EVER   June 9, 2010
W. Kaiser (Seattle, WA USA)

Yeah, I said it. Best SW game EVER!!! I really liked the Jedi Knight games, and The Force Unleashed brings it to the next level. Better yet, we're finally dealing with an era that hasn't really been touched upon too much. I, personally, am a big fan of the "dark times" era between Episode III and Episode IV. There is a lot of mystery here and a lot of potential for stories with "not-so-happy" endings, which is a great change of pace.

Anyway, so yeah, story is great. Gameplay? Also great! I love the controls on the Wii. This game plays exactly as you would expect it to play on the Wii. The control layout is absolutely perfect. If all 3rd person games had these controls on the Wii, then there would be one less thing for critics to complain about.

I've seen many reviews stating that the game was too easy. This is pretty accurate. It really isn't that difficult to get to the end. There are some good aspects of this though. First, it allows you to play through the game with Wii controls without getting too sore. Second, it allows you to follow the story in a pretty fluid manner, without having to play through the same level over and over. Third (my favorite), you can replay the game again with all of the items/force abilities that you ended with! And again... and again... it's great! You can eventually max out your force abilities, get all the cool hilts, crystals, costumes, etc, and just overall have a great time.I was really surprised at the replay value in this game. I've probably beaten it 20 times, and I'll do it 20 more.

To all the negative reviewers complaining about controls: please shut up and stop writing Wii reviews. Seriously, I swear all of the negative reviews about the Wii controls in this game are coming from Xbox and PS fanboys. And the complaints are always the same: "I hate waggling the wiimote". Seriously? Why the F#@! did you by a Wii then? If you don't like the Wii, then go away. We don't need your reviews about the Wii version of a given game. As Wii fans, we want to know what OTHER Wii fans are saying about the game. If you want to complain about the Wii controls, then write a general review about the Wii itself and quit soiling the Wii versions of multi-platform games with your pointless banter.

On that note, all Wii advocates looking for a fun game: Please ignore all negative reviews about the Wii version (specifically) of this game. Any *general* reviews about the gameplay, plot, etc are totally valid, but seriously... ALL of the reviewers who say the Wii version sucks, while the other version are great, are all complaining about the same two things: Graphics and Controls. Please ignore these, as these people don't have any right to be reviewing Wii anything.

Bottom line, if you like the Wii and you like Star Wars: Get this game!

2 out of 5 stars worst star wars game ive ever played   May 10, 2010
HSL (College Station, TX United States)

I can't believe I spent $50 for this. I even bought this game the day it was released because I had been anticipating it for a while. When I first played it, I guess i thought it was good, but not great. But that was two years ago, when I was eleven. Now I am 13, and better at recognizing good production values and amount of polish. So looking back on it, it's probably one of the worst purchases I've ever made in my life. One reason is that the game is too easy. As countless other reviewers have said, this game is too easy. There's basically no consequence for dying- you just start back there where you died, with the same amount of enemies you killed. Another is that this game is not creative, there's no pattern to kill the bosses or anything like that. The wii specific motion controls may be somewhat intuitive, but most of the time they're not responsive. Finally, the graphics look like diarrhea dump. They are worse than ps2 graphics. The only high point in this game is the sound. you have your usual williams soundtrack, the fancy star wars sound effects, and good/ok voice acting- which are all defining characteristics of star wars games. But overall, I wouldn't even give this game a rent. Just skip it.

5 out of 5 stars The force is with this game   April 30, 2010
This is a game that I can find myself playing a lot, force upgrades, lightsaber customization, and costumes, make this game even more fun. And even though there's multiplayer, I don't Like how Lucasarts didn't make the ultimate sith edition for the Wii. It just isn't fair. Other than that, it's really fun.
